10 steps to start making impact in your life regardless of your age!

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” –Walt Disney

Life is not meaningful until you give it meaning. That is why some people make impact while some others fail to make impact.

So many people wish they too can make impact but don’t know how to start nor do they even know what impact to make.

Some others get drowned in questions like: what if I am old and in my fifties or sixties? What if I’ve never known myself till now that I am in my forties? What if I am too young and inexperienced?

These are the kind of questions I have been asked particularly when talking on Self Discovery for success.

The best way to live a life of purpose is to start living a purposeful life the very moment you discover that you should start living a life of purpose regardless of your age!

These are 7 steps that can help you.

  1. Accept that the best time to know anything is that time you got to know it!

Never dwell on the past by feeling bad that you should have known this before now. Don’t beat yourself up by blaming that you’ve wasted all the years that have passed. Everything in life happen for a good purpose even if you and I can’t see the good reason.

2. Just move on!

Don’t wait anymore! Start something that you’ve learned that needs to be done. Don’t look for the full manual of how to do it the best way, just start already!

It is a way to get slowed down when you start looking for the perfect way to start or looking for the full length of the process to take, remember what Mack Zuckerberg of Facebook said during his Harvard speech to graduating students a few years ago: no one gets it fully figured out from the onset. Things are going to take shape as you move on in the process.

3. Take one step at a time!

It’s okay to have big dreams but remember that bits and pieces of the whole come together at the end of the day to make the huge success.

4. Never compare yourself to others!

Remember that even though you can pick role models or look up to successful people, you are you and can never be that other person. So, concentrate on you even if you’ll be learning from others.

Your achievements will be different the same way your finger print is different, so, please focus on you!

5. Age is just a number!

Never concentrate on what number your age is except to remind yourself of any caution somebody of your age should take about some things that may affect some of the actions you may be taking.

Age is just a number and very old people have been seen to have started the process of actualising their lives dreams at old age and yet achieved the dreams.

In fact, I will say: leverage on age because you’re more likely to be wiser and more skilled in some areas.

The mind is powerful and the limit of achievement is only influenced by the mindset and not age.

6. Be patient and persevere just like great people do!

As you move on in this journey, you will have challenges that will push you back from your dream, never give in!

Remember that every successful person today went through a lot of challenges that they had to overcome to get that success. So, please be patient to see your dreams come true as you push through the bits and the hard times!

7. Hang around progressive people.

It is important to look for people who have similar dreams like you and who are determined to achieve such dreams so that you can have a means of reminder and support.

Being in the midst of people influences you in such a way that you can start thinking and behaving like such people.

Research has shown that a person is the average of the five closest people to him. If you want an increase in your income, you can achieve that quickly if you start mixing with people that earn the kind of income you desire. If you desire a level of influence, start moving with people who are already at that level of influence or at least people who are working hard towards that.

8. Work relentlessly!

To be able to become a person of impact, you must be really ready to work relentlessly regularly and consistently. The more you do the things, take actions or work on your skills, the better you get as a person.

One very good way to get opportunities to doing more and improving is to look for opportunities for volunteering. People will be willing to give you opportunities to do free jobs since most times they have nothing to lose. Volunteering also helps you with your mood and making a meaning of life.

Look for opportunities to volunteer for free at your paid job, look for opportunities at your community programs and even at family events. The more you volunteer, the more you find meaning for life and the better you get as an individual.

9. Be willing to learn anything that is needed for your success.

Sometimes we just feel there are some skills we need to learn for ourselves so that we can get better as a career person or parent or in any other capacity but we probably believe we can’t learn it for whatever reason.

The reality is that everybody can learn anything so far he or she is willing to learn. That’s the growth mindset! Be open to learning and the possibilities of learning at any age! Know that anyone can learn anything!

10. Be willing to make mistakes.

In all of these suggestions stated above, be very aware that you can make mistakes and be willing to accept yourself for the mistakes you may make. A lot of people don’t take the chances at things they want in life because they are afraid of making mistakes.

The more you are willing to accept your self for your mistakes the higher your chances of doing and in fact, the higher your chances of getting it right!

Again, be willing to screw it up!

I wish you all the best!
